then, the M77 Mark II has become a world-class leader in centerfire
bolt-action rifles. It is truly an example of how innovation can blend

One of its most popular features is the readily accessible three-
position safety that allows the rifleman to lock the bolt, or to load
or upload, with the safety engaged. A patented floorplate latch,
housed in the trigger guard, securely holds the floor-plate to prevent
the accidental dumping of cartridges, yet readily permits quick
unloading of the magazine. With its innovative one-piece bolt, Ruger
has eliminated brazing in the bolt construction, improving the
strength and reliability of this time-tested design. The diagonal
front-screw bedding system, which pulls the action downward and back
for more secure contact with the stock bedding surfaces, boasts a
design so unique that it was granted a patent.
